Sr. Network Security Engineer

Network Security Engineer                                                   

Location: Beverly Hills area of Los Angeles, CA
Duration: 6 months contract (3-6 month contract to hire) 
Must be onsite 2 days per week and can be remote the other 3 working days (from day 1)
Healthcare Industry experience would be strongly preferred

This position will be focused on collaborating with a healthcare company and performing a broad variety of technical engineering support, design, architecture for monitoring and managing the Health Systems data infrastructure and systems 

Summary of Essential Job Duties:
  • Leads the technical engineering planning, design and architecture for monitoring and managing a global healthcare network, security and wireless infrastructure.
  • Create and maintain documentation, maintain hardware and software standards, and evaluate new products and solutions related to business requirements.
  • Develop and modify technology networks, addressing functional, performance, security, quality, operations and monitoring needs in an efficient and productive manner.
  • Participates in the evaluation of new applications for the Health System, determines their effect on the existing network and systems infrastructure and perimeter; recommends and may oversee any necessary operational or security enhancements.
  • Works jointly with user project managers and other IT groups to successfully implement projects.

Experience includes:

  • Extensive knowledge in planning, designing, and documenting networks with 10,000+ users with large domains and deployments.
  • Experience with selection and strategic direction of network and security technologies and architecture-perform concept and testing to network security design and solutions, vulnerability and penetration testing, and threat mitigation.
  • A packet level expertise in network traffic analysis to identify source of problems.
  • Strong understanding of technologies related to NAT/PAT, MPLS, QoS, BGP, OSPF, VRF's, and Traffic Engineering.
  • Experience with Network Access Control and other perimeter security technologies.
  • Knowledge of Network Access Control, Firewalls, IPS, Site to Site VPN, IPSec, Encryption, Micro-segmentation and other security related technologies.
  • Understanding of F5/NetScaler load balancing products.
  • Knowledge of wireless technologies 802.11a/b/g/n/ac.
  • Strong project management and interpersonal skills; ability to deal effectively with diverse skill sets and personalities, provide strong team leadership, and work effectively as a team player.
  • Expertise in network monitoring, analysis, management, and configuration tools or expertise with server/systems monitoring and management tools.
  • Competent with mainstream office automation, project management, and communications tools.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and best practices such as Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 and California State Bill No. 1386.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an IT or engineering discipline or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) and Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) or equivalent Security certification, preferred.
